BYU Dominates Defense in Big Win Over Iowa State: Game Recap & Thoughts

The Game

It was a nice evening in Provo, Utah, at LaVell Edwards Stadium. At the start of the game, it was in the low 70s. It was a great night to play some good football.

My Thoughts

My thoughts are located below

Game Day Food

I was going to cook some food, but it was late game, and I worked all day. My wife and I decided to just get some pizza. We got a large pepperoni pizza, some little pepperoni puffs, and crazy bread and sauce.

I picked up a grape soda.

1st Half

Finally, BYU offense showed up for the first drive of the game. They marched down the field and scored a TD. But then BYU stalled and got stopped on 4th down twice. But BYU got in the end zone right before halftime for a TD.

Iowa state looked good on offense, but they only scored 3 so far. Pretty good game so far.

Thoughts so far

Iowa State’s offense came off a great week last week, but it’s not looking so good so far. Iowa State had only 49 yards of total offense. Yes, you read that right. BYU’s defense has really stepped it up and stopped the run and the pass.

Can they do more of this in the 2nd half? Iowa St. gets the ball in the 2nd half

2nd Half

Well, Iowa St. did get some more yards. They did get 200 total yards. Iowa St. did score a TD after a Tiger fumble on a punt. Should BYU have kicked the field goals instead of going for it on 4th down? But it is what it is.

Iowa St. did come within a one-score game until BYU finally put it away. The second half was just another half. You saw BYU make mistakes and still win.

Stats

Thoughts

BYU did what they needed to do. They controlled the game and put up the points and yards. They did hold Iowa St. to only 200 yards. I mean, Iowa St. came off of a huge yardage total the week before. I think it was close to 600 yards.

Good game, Great night to play some good football.

People thought that Iowa St. would blow out the Cougars. But those are just haters.

With the win, it puts a bull’s-eye on BYU and Provo for next week’s game.
