BYU Recap, Sept 24, 2023

Sept. 23 was the first game in the BIG 12, and it was at Kansas. It was going to be a good game. For BYU to win, they must keep the ball and have no fumbles or turnovers in general. Will it be that way today?

The Lassiter brothers have something in common today: They play against each other. One plays Offense, and the other defense—one plays for BYU, and the other plays for Kansas. Mother and brother are wearing a shirt that shows support for both teams.

First Half

BYU started defense again, and they held Kansas on a 4th down. Then, two plays later, BYU fumbled the ball with a great hit on number 82 (name). Kansas scooped it up and ran it in for a TD. Kansas up

BYU came down the field after the kick-off and scored a TD, with a great catch by number 5.

BYU intercepted the ball, but it was called holding on BYU. So Jayhawks got a first down and 10 yards.

Kanas scored, so that makes it

BYU was going down to score, and they were only to kick a field goal to make it 17-14, and BYU lead going into halftime.

2nd Half

BYU got the ball for the second half, but a pick-six was thrown, and that put the Jayhawks up

That is not how we wanted to start the 2nd half of the game. We never want to throw a pick 6. Well, BYU’s answer?

BYU came down the field, and they could only get a field goal  20 -21, still behind.

Kansas came down the field and scored, making it 20-28

My Thoughts

The game didn’t start too well for BYU. They weren’t predicted to win this game but weren’t last week.

They did well for their Big 12 debut but lost their first one.

If you look at the yardage, BYU had more total yards, but Kanas had more takeaways, which led to points on the board.
