Office Update

With the new house, which we moved into a few years back. I had my office all planned out. Well, in my head anyway. What changed?

Pre-New House

I never really had a place of my own in the house. Unless you count the outside or under the house. But still, it wasn’t my own space. So when we were building our new home. I found the room I wanted, and my wife and I talked about it. We both agreed that this would be my area in the house once the basement was finished.

New House

Now that we’re in the new house, we’ve finished about 25% of the basement. I know it isn’t all finished, but it meant that the bedroom being used upstairs is now empty, which was good since I had designed that room for my office.

I put the network plugs where I wanted them to be. Had the room divided up into what I wanted in each area. I was ready to leave and move out of the office where I currently am.

I was excited to have the dream office, at least at that time. But stop in the name of my wife.

Put on Hold

That was the end of my dream office for now. My wife decided that she needed the bigger room for her office. What do you mean? You need this bigger room, just like we agreed when I had it. Well, I never agreed to that.

Office

The room I’m in right now is fine. I am in what is called the living room

But it is fine. It’s not quite what I was thinking, but it’s fine. It is a place I call my own. I have my own space. Where can I go and shut the door and be there in peace? Well, as much peace as I can get without getting yelled at for something.

But I have done some things that I am trying to make my own.

What isn’t in my office

No TV on the wall
Not as big
Wish I had put network Jacks and plugs in different places.

But, hey, it is what it is.

Yes, I will have to keep it picked up and clean. Sometimes it gets messy, but hey, that is life, right? Yes, it’s something that guests see when they first walk in. But if they judge, that is on them, not me.
