The Power of Clear Goals: A Roadmap to Success

As we have been talking about depression and the Road to Growth, we need to understand some steps that will help us along the way.

Clear Goals

Why use clear goals as a step to growth? Let’s break it down into five different areas.

Direction and Focus

You can look at goals as a compass that guides you in improving yourself. You know what you want, and if you make goals that you can obtain, it is easier for you to prioritize your actions. Sometimes, it is hard due to distractions, but focus helps you with those distractions.

Motivations and Inspiration

Having specific goals gives you something to strive towards, something that motivates you to get out of bed and achieve things.

Measurable Progress

You can track your goals as you achieve them. For example, if you want to get out of bed before 7 AM, you can track and measure it. You can set benchmarks and reward yourself for achieving the goal.

Accountability

Having goals creates the framework for accountability. When you share your objectives with someone, on a blog or YouTube, you are more likely to stay committed to that goal.

Decision Making

You can examine your goals and determine whether what you choose will help you achieve them. This will prevent you from making the wrong decision that will affect your goal.

Setting Clear Goals

  1. Be specific
  2. Make them Measurable
  3. Ensure achievability
  4. Stay Relevant
  5. Set Timeframes

I have now set some goals for myself to achieve. Some are long-term, and some are short-term.

Here are some clear goals I have set.

  • Get up and walk
  • Power wash the front of the house
  • Power the swing set
  • But the swing set together
  • Lift the swing set

Those were just a few goals I have set.

They are easy to reach, but the goals can get harder.

Like

  • Walk 30 days straight
  • Make sure it is 7,000 or more steps a day

You can measure your goals

  • Account for it on Social Media
  • Let people know your progress

Thoughts

Setting goals will help you on your path to growth. If you have depression, you can start small and work your way up. Setting clear goals will help you get over that hump you are feeling. It will help you embrace who you are and what you can accomplish.
