Before Game Thoughts

If you would like to check out my thoughts before the game started, head on over here. Not sure if I will be updating that page during the game. But it will be marked before the game, and if I do update during the game, it will be marked during the game.

The Game

It was a nice, sunny day in Orlando, with a temperature of 77 degrees. What a great day to play some football. Wish I were there watching the game.

First Half

Georgia Tech (GT) kicked the ball to BYU, and BYU went down the field, and GT held them at the one-yard line.

BYU got the ball back and went down, and Chase Roberts scored the TD to go ahead in the game.

On GT’s second drive, they were moving the ball down the field. BYU stopped them on the 3rd and goal, but GT ran a wildcat on 4th and scored a TD.

Now tied at 7

BYU did go up by 3, but then GT came down the field and scored. Putting the score at 14 to 10. BYU fumbled the kickoff, and GT scored on one play.

BYU had 5 minutes to get down the field to score, but they got a penalty, and now the punting group is on the field, and they kicked it to the 3-yard line.

GT has 2 minutes to get down the field. Will they do it? Well, GT was moving, but a hold canceled that out. But BYU couldn’t hold them from getting the first down. GT was picking apart the BYU defense.

First half comes to an end with a Hail Mary play, but it comes up short as BYU knocks it down.

BYU goes into halftime down by 11.

First half thoughts

BYU started well and looked like they were in control of the game. But something happened, and GT turned the tables and scored 14 unanswered points. Things BYU needs to do better

  • Tackle
  • Ball control
    • No more fumbles
  • Running the ball
  • Better ball movement on offense
  • Need some turnovers on Defense

GT gets the ball first.

First half Stats

Second Half

GT got the ball first, and they moved pretty well. There was a personal foul on BYU that should not have been called. But GT is moving the ball pretty well.

BYU’s Defense needs to step it up big time.

Well, they did, forced a fumble, and got the ball on the 35-yard line. Now it is BYU’s turn to go down the field. Threw a pick in the end zone.

GT went down, and BYU blocked the kick now with just the fourth quarter remaining. BYU needs to score 14 points to win the game.

The question is, could they do it?

Well, BYU ran it in for the TD, and they are going for a 2-point conversion, and Bear gets it. Now it is a 3-point game.

Now, it is up to the Defense to step up and get a pick-six.

BYU got the ball back after a GT punt, and well, they scored a TD with 2 min left.

Now the BYU defense has got to step it up. But first, the kickoff, BYU needs to put it in the end zone for a non-returnable ball.

BYU kicked it short, but they stopped them on the 20.

But on a 4th and 15, GT threw a good ball and got to the 18-yard line of BYU with 35 seconds on the clock. After a few failed attempts, on the last try, BYU picked it off in the end zone with 6 seconds left.
