We got in at the right time alright. As 2020 continued on the housing market was exploding. I mean exploding.
The bidding wars
Since the housing market was exploding and the demand was up, you would have to bid on the lot if you wanted a house. Yea, you heard me right, you would have to bid on the lot. You get on the list and you say I would like this lot. Others are on the list and they want that lot as well. Then you say I will pay $5,000 more, the other person said $10,000 more. Yea, so on and on.
Some people paid up to $40,000 more. What the hell? If I had to do that there would be no way in hell we would get into the new house. I am just happy we didn’t have to do that.
Build
Continued on and well we didn’t get in when we thought we would. We were thinking of the last part of January. Well, things happened due to the state of the World which delayed the completion of the house. The date was pushed back to mid-Feb. They wanted to push it back to mid-March. But, I said we need to be in the house by March 6, 2021. We just sold our house, I have my request for time off from work. The pod we are using is being moved on March 5, 2021. The fridge, washer, and dryer are being delivered on March 5, 2021. So forth.
We got in and to top it all off, our old house wasn’t all packed yet. We have a lot of stuff. My wife had COVID-19 and she wasn’t going to be very helpful. My one son was supposed to be in Hawaii, but he tested Positive for COVID-19 and couldn’t go. But that lasted like 12 hours. He was there to help us move. Thank goodness. Having the two boys home to help was nice.
Moved
Yep, we moved and life is good. Do we have to make a house payment, yet? Asking for a friend.
