Our 5 cruise was in 2018 and where did we go? Somewhere new? Well, let us find out.
The basic questions
We need to ask are
- Will be on a new Cruise line?
- Will we be going out of LA area?
- Will we be on the West Coast?
- Well we venture into new terriories?
- Well we try a new cruise line?
Well
We didn’t leave the west coast at all. We sailed out of one of Seattle, Washington’s cruise ports. We were headed towards Alaska. We did the following:
- Juneau, Alaska
- Skagway, Alaska
- Cruise Glacier Bay
- Ketchikan, Alaska
- Victoria, British Columbia
- Seattle, Washington
We changed this up by going to Glacier Bay this time.
What ship
We went on the Ruby Princess, this is a sister ship to the Crown Princess. The layout was the same. This time we got a Suite. Thank goodness we did. It was on deck 8 at the rear of the ship. It was a bunch of money. Yea, but it was worth it.
Story
My youngest was graduating from High School and so we thought we would go on a cruise before the summer where the kids go their separate ways and on with their lives. My son went to a graduation party that night and well by the time we left for the airport. Everything changed, it was a living hell. He broke his foot that night. This is what Friday looked like.
- Took him to the doctor
- Found it was broken
- Was put in a boot
- Got crutches
- Had to pack him
- He didn’t pack anything. What the hell?
- So I was trying to find things
- Went to a medical supply place to rent a scooter, and they didn’t have any. We had to buy one. WTH!!
- That was $250 I didn’t have
- Went to Ross to get some shoes, couldn’t find some of his shoes
- Got to the airport
- The same time as my sisters and they were flying out 2 hours after we were
- Took forever through security
- They had to scan him
- They weren’t going to allow me to board since I had more than one carry on
- No kidding, I had
- My carry on
- My son’s carry on
- My backpack
- His crutches
- No kidding, I had
- I had to explain that the kid on the scooter couldn’t carry his carry on.
Got on the flight very last. Again. I hate arriving late.
Juneau, Alaska
We got into Juneau and we needed to go shopping. My wife wanted a new piece of luggage. I couldn’t afford a new one. What the heck. But dealing with her and my son. It was a stressful time.
Yep, we brought a new 28″ check-in baggage. That just means more for me to tow around.
Second Time
This is the second time a foot was broken within 2 years. Not one foot, he broke both of them. One his Jr. year during football. One after he graduated. I could go on and on.
This was the second time I have been to Alaska, I could go again. We had a suite that was nice to hold all of the crap we had. The scooter and other things. I would do a suite again. But for the price of it well let’s just say it was about $7,500 for 4. Below is the balcony.
