What is it

Williams syndrome (WS) is a genetic condition that is present at birth and can affect anyone. It is characterized by medical problems, including cardiovascular disease, developmental delays, and learning challenges. These often occur side by side with striking verbal abilities, highly social personalities, and an affinity for music. WS occurs equally in males and females and in all cultures worldwide. How does it happen

This is the cause of the deletion of 26 to 28 genes on chromosome #7. This happens at the time of conception. The sperm or the egg can have this happen to them. It is a 1 in 10,000 chance. It is most likely that the elastin gene in most families.
