First Round of CFP

Well, the College Football 12-team playoff is underway. Let’s talk about the first four games.

Indiana at Notre Dame

The high Temp was 29 degrees in South Bend.

Being the first game played and done in this new era, a lot can happen. It appears that the fighting Irish came into this game on a 10-game win streak, and the only loss of the season for Indiana was by Ohio State.

Well, the Irish controlled this game from the beginning. They won 27 -17, putting them in the Sugar Bowl, playing Georgia on Jan. 1, 2025, at 8:45 pm EST.

SMU at Penn State

The high Temp at Penn State was 20 degrees.

It was a cold day in Happy Valley, which is not what I consider Happy Valley; anyway, SMU didn’t attend this game. I mean, 2 picks 6’s for Penn State; that doesn’t do much for SMU’s mental game. SMU would end up losing 38-10. So the Lions move on to play in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31, 2024, against Boise St.

Clemson at Texas

The high Temp for the day was 67 degrees.

Clemson traveled to Texas, where they scored first. But after that score, it was all Texas. The Longhorns beat the Tigers by a score of 38 – 24. The Longhorns will move on and play Arizona St. in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1, 2025.

Tennessee at Ohio State

The temp for the game was 25 degrees

The late game of the day in Columbus, Ohio. I miss those home games in Columbus. It was all Ohio State in this game. I think that Tennessee was too cold to play. The Buckeyes win 42 to 17. I guess it wasn’t a good showing for the SEC. The Buckeyes will play Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2025.

Thoughts

Did the Playoff Committee do the right thing? Picked the right teams? I know I am just a no-one in the world of sports, and this is my opinion.

Hell No!!

They didn’t pick the right teams so far. It is the same team as always. Granted, Ohio State is always up there, and they are a good team. Texas is getting better. Notre Dame is just Notre Dame. Penn State is coming back.

SEC 1 win

Independent, one win.

Now, they go on to play in some bowl games. Hopefully, it will be some better games. In my opinion, anyway.
