The second week of the football season is here for BYU, and they are home at LaVell Edwards Stadium, LES. After a defeat to Portland State, how will BYU do against Stanford?
Stanford
They come from Palo Alto, California, and used to be part of the PAC-12; now, they are part of the ACC. They have been struggling lately in Football. How will they do against BYU?
1st Half
I am unsure if Stanford is out for blood, but they had the Bears’ number. They were coming after him all the time. Are they mad that he transferred? Most likely. From what I have been hearing all week, BYU is going to pound Stanford. So far, it has not been that much of a pounding.
BYU’s defense so far has been the force in this game.
An interception, which resulted in just a BYU Field Goal
A safety, after pinning Stanford at the 5-yard line.
Stanford’s defense makes the BYU offense work for every point they put up.
The score of 14 points in the first half came this way
6 points TD, missed 2-point conversion
FG
FG
Safety
14 points, that is just two TDs and extra points
BYU started to move the ball towards the end of the half, but then Stanford stopped that movement. Stanford seems to have the number of Bear, the BYU quarterback.
My thoughts on the first half.
BYU is sluggish for the first half—not what I was expecting. I was expecting at least 28 or better. The defense is strong and punishes Stanford, but the offense is not performing at the level it needs to be.
They need to step up in the 2nd half.
Second Half
It didn’t look too good for BYU; Stanford held them to mostly FG in this game. Did the defense rattle Bear? It seems like it. But it is what it is.
Conversely, the defense allowed Stanford to kick a field goal early in the fourth quarter. They saved a touchdown, but still, they were slacking in the second half.
It could have been better, but the win is a win.

Thoughts
I have shared my thoughts throughout this post, but it appeared that BYU was just not playing at the level they could be playing at.
Yes, the defense held Stanford to negative rushing yards at one point. They did have a great showing, but towards the end, it seemed like they weren’t playing that hard.
The offense struggled from the start. I think Stanford had a chip on their shoulder and anger issues towards Bear, number 47, the quarterback for BYU. Once Jake left, he moved from Stanford to BYU.
They were on him all night.
It could have been better. But the win is a win
Next Game
