From Hype to Heartbreak: BYU Falls Flat in 29-7 Loss to Texas Tech

Game Day was at the game, and it was a big, insane crowd from what I saw on TV. I wish I were there. But the thing we are talking about is the game between the Cougars and the Red Raiders. Let’s talk about it.

The Game

The big game of the week, BYU at Texas Tech, number 7 vs number 8. It is all Texas Tech in the talk before the game. How will BYU respond? That is a good question.

First Half

It was all Texas Tech in this half. Scoring 13 points. They held BYU to just 104 yards in the first half and scored zero.

BYU did hold them to 2 field goals and one touchdown.

BYU didn’t show up so far.

BYU did hold them on 4th-and-goal to end the first half. It was a sad showing so far for BYU.

Thoughts so Far

BYU didn’t show up. They are not playing like they should be. Texas Tech did show up to the game, and so far, they have BYU’s number. Bear can’t do much with the pressure Texas Tech has been giving the BYU offense.

Better be a better second half.

Second Half

BYU held them to a three-and-out, but BYU didn’t get on the board yet. Is that going to change? It’s better.

BYU did move the ball, but they didn’t produce much.

Just a side note:

It wasn’t a perfect day in the Jenkins household. During this game so far

TT intercepted the ball with 6 minutes into the 3rd quarter. It was on the BYU’s 22-yard line.

At this point in the game, five red-zone trips and only 1 TD. Now it is 6 times in the red zone for only 4 FG.

Going into the 4th quarter, it looks like it is all Texas Tech. It seems like BYU isn’t playing at all.

In the fourth quarter, it is

BYU0
Tech26

BYU finally got on the board in the 4th, but it was a little too late to do much of anything.

Bear threw the ball backward, and Texas Tech jumped on it as it was a live ball. That is where they scored the last 3 points.

Thoughts

BYU came into this game the underdog, I mean a big underdog. No one believed in themselves, and well, I don’t think they did either after watching them play. They do this after a lot of the bye weeks. They come out flat and don’t seem like they are the team they should be.

The one good thing about the game is that we held them to 2 touchdowns; the rest were field goals.

Probably could have saved the two touchdowns if they could FREAKING TACKLE!!!!!!

Come on, BYU, wrap up, and don’t let them bounce off of you.

Next Week

TCU travels to Provo to play the Cougars at 8:15 PM Mountain Time.
