What is sleep? Well, let’s find out what it is and why you need it. I am sure if you are reading this blog you know what sleep is but keep reading to find out my thoughts.
What is sleep
It is a natural thing that all humans do. Even the vampires need some sleep. You achieve the best sleep when you reach something called Rapid eye movement (REM). During this period of sleep, your body goes into a state of virtual paralysis of the body. Where your body goes into a state of an anabolic state. Where your body does the following to restore the:
- Immune
- Nervous
- Skeletal
- Muscular systems
As these are the systems that maintain the
- Mood
- Memory
- Cognitive
Functions. I can tell you in the words of Teal’c, indeed, these are important to one’s health.
Disorders
If you don’t get enough sleep then you can experience some problems or disorders. What are these disorders? Well, let’s find out:
- Insomnia
- Hypersomnia
- Narcolepsy
- Sleep apnea
- Parasomnias
- Sleep walking
- REM sleep behavior
- Bruxism
- Circadian rhythm sleep disorders
Fun stuff.
